About the role
Director of Community Services
Salary: circa £83,000 (pay award pending)
Bassetlaw District Council has an outstanding record of improvement and innovation and we are committed to making a difference to the District and the communities that we serve. As a “fair” council, we are continuously putting in place the building blocks we need to sustain the significant improvements we have made so far. In order for us to continue on our positive and transformational journey, we are now looking to recruit a new Director of Community Services.
As a member of the Corporate Management Team, this post will cover the areas of Planning, Strategic Housing, Leisure, Regeneration and Environmental Health, and will play a fundamental role in driving the continuous improvement of services, as well as playing a key role in CAA and LAA Management processes. There is a big agenda with some challenging projects that includes the regeneration of Worksop. Other high profile and key projects are the transfer of the Leisure Management Services to a Trust as well as undertaking an options appraisal for the outsourcing of refuse and street cleaning for the Council.
It is not essential that you possess a background in one of these areas but we are looking for people who are good strategic managers with an excellent track record in performance management.
Crucially, you will be commercially astute with the ability to see the bigger picture, developing effective relationships with local communities and other public, private and voluntary sector organisations in order to achieve the Councils objectives.
Overall, to be successful you will be a high calibre, forward thinking and credible leader who posses the ability, determination and passion to tackle the challenges faced by the Council. This is a fantastic opportunity to influence the running of Bassetlaw Council and contribute to the strategic development of the Council going forwards.
